07-05-2017·The v and u gouges seem reasonably ok - maybe needing strop. I had to get the skew chisel to the diamond sharpening stone, and get rid of the 2ndary bevel, then sharpen and hone, and it is cutting a lot better. Looks & feels good in hand, but not carving sharp on arrival gives a bit of disappointment with the Narex.

06-01-2013·I have a full set of Narex, Wood River,a couple of two Cherries, and some old Stanley's. They all do the job but the first two hold an edge and preform better. I truely think the Narex are just as good as the rest and a lot cheaper too. Just my two cents.

Compared to other chisels in the same price range, these are a much better value. The factory milling was quite good for the money. Lapping the back and putting an edge on them was a snap.

08-10-2018·The most apparent difference is in the thickness of the blade. Both blades are about 9/64" thick at the tip. The Stanley flares to 13/64" at the shoulder while the WoodRiver blade is, at 19/64", almost 50% thicker. The side bevels on the Stanley are a common 30°, and they flare back very gently towards the centerline.
